Anna Simpson

President

My name is Anna Simpson, I’m the president of AIAS and an Architectural Studies major at UCLA double minoring in History and Environmental Systems and Society. Growing up when I went to visit my grandmother I would see buildings that my grandfather had designed and built. He was an architectural engineer in San Francisco and his legacy is what initially inspired me to become an architect. My curiosity in the current architecture scene is towards sustainability. How can we make cities with clean air, clean water, and clean energy? This is the most important question for my generation of designers. The beautiful thing about an architect is that he or she is a maker, not just a consumer, with the ability to translate an idea into a sketch or proposal, something which is personal for the user. It influences so much, how you think, how you feel. Being an architect, there is so much you can do to make life better for people, and I hope to do so while simultaneously giving back to the planet which provides us all with so many wonderful things.
